OHS - Information


Founded in 1977, the Ormond Historical Society is dedicated to promoting an interest in history, both National and Local.  Based in Nenagh, capital of the ancient Barony of Ormond, the Society organizes a programme of lectures / historical site visits of interest to members. Lectures usually take place on the first Monday of the month  & run from November to April. Four field trips to places of historic interest take place during the months May through to September.
Monthly lectures are free to society members and are open to the public at an admission charge of €5.
The AGM of the Society takes place every October and a committee is elected at the AGM to run the affairs of the Society for the following year. Committee members for 2020 are :

Treasurer;  Conor  De Loughry
 
  Committee members: John Flannery, John Fletcher, Mary Gubbins, Danny Grace, Mary Feehily, Donal Whelan, Geraldine Kirwin, Michael Hayes, Lulu Bergin, Tom Starr, Martin McLoughlin, Dermot O'Brien.

Yearly membership costs €25 (Family), €20 (Individual), €5 (Student) and new members are always welcome. If you are interested in joining the OHS you should come along to one of our lectures or outings, details of which can be found here or on our Facebook site or in the Nenagh Guardian.
